Finally got the D800, I ordered it in the beginning of february and have been waiting impatiently ever since. The two main reasons I had for buying it was that I wanted a full frame and it has better details in the shadows than any other camera. With a full frame camera I can stand 1/3 closer to the models with my favourite lenses, that are a little too long for the studio. I ended up plastered to the back wall to get the shots I wanted some times. Details in the shadows is really good for a goth photographer like me:P I often take pictures of a black skirt with a black blouse and maybe a black corset as well and I want people to see all the details. It really helps that D800 has minimum iso 100 without using low settings as well compared to iso 200 on D300, then I can use twice as much light in the studio;)
Sadly what I ended up doing today was taking pictures of watches on a white background for my new store PopCorsets.com. Any camera can take good pictures of watches on a white background with enough light. Allthough when I looked at the pictures afterwards it feels like the pictures have a bit more punch and details than the pictures from the D300.
